Subject + 还没(有) + Verb (+ 呢)
To say something hasn't happened yet (but is expected to), use 还没(有) + verb, often with 呢 at the end to soften it.
It's the natural answer to a question with 已经…了 or …了吗: 你吃饭了吗？还没呢.
Careful: no 了 in a 还没 sentence, since the action hasn't happened.
Examples
A：你下班了吗？B：还没呢。
A: Nǐ xiàbān le ma? B: Hái méi ne.A: Are you off work yet? B: Not yet.
客户还没回邮件。
Kèhù hái méi huí yóujiàn.The client hasn't replied to the email yet.
会议还没开始呢。
Huìyì hái méi kāishǐ ne.The meeting hasn't started yet.
我还没想好。
Wǒ hái méi xiǎnghǎo.I haven't made up my mind yet.
Common mistakes
✗ 我还没吃饭了 → ✓ 我还没吃饭(呢).
我还不吃饭 ("I'm still not eating", refusal) ≠ 我还没吃饭 (haven't eaten yet).
