Subject + (V) + O + V + 得 + Adj / Subject + O + V + 得 + Adj
Problem: 得 must follow the verb directly, so ✗ 他打篮球得很好 is wrong. Solution: repeat the verb.
V + O + V + 得 + Adj: 他打篮球打得很好 (he plays basketball well).
You can also drop the first verb and put the object first: 他篮球打得很好. Very common in speech.

Common mistakes
✗ 他说中文得很好 → ✓ 他说中文说得很好 / 他中文说得很好.
For separable verbs (游泳, 唱歌, 跑步), repeat the first syllable: 游泳游得, 跑步跑得.
