Subject + 跟 / 和 + Person + 一起 + Verb
"Do something with someone": 跟 + person + 一起 + verb. The phrase goes before the verb, not at the end as in English.
和 can replace 跟. 一起 can stand alone: 我们一起去吧 (let's go together).
跟 also works with verbs of speaking: 跟他说 (tell him), 跟我来 (come with me / follow me).
Examples
春节我跟家人一起过。
Chūnjié wǒ gēn jiārén yìqǐ guò.I spend Spring Festival with my family.
你想跟我们一起去看灯吗？
Nǐ xiǎng gēn wǒmen yìqǐ qù kàn dēng ma?Do you want to come and see the lanterns with us?
我跟朋友一起包饺子。
Wǒ gēn péngyou yìqǐ bāo jiǎozi.I make dumplings with friends.
你跟他说了吗？
Nǐ gēn tā shuō le ma?Have you told him?
Common mistakes
✗ 我吃饭跟朋友 → ✓ 我跟朋友一起吃饭.
✗ 我一起跟朋友吃饭 → ✓ 我跟朋友一起吃饭 (一起 after the person).
