进而 marks a step-by-step progression: having done A, you move on to a broader or deeper stage B, "and then", "going on to", "further".
Versus 从而 (level 5): 从而 introduces the result of a measure (A leads to B); 进而 introduces a further step (after A, you also do B). Written register.

Common mistakes
✗ 进而 for a mere consequence: ✗ 下雨了，进而路很滑 → ✓ 所以/因此。
✗ Mixing up 进而 and 从而: 进而 = one step further; 从而 = result.
