在 + (N 的) + 帮助/影响/支持/领导/条件 + 下，…

在…下 marks the condition or influence under which something happens: "under the influence of", "with the help of", "under these conditions". The phrase opens the sentence.

The core noun is almost always abstract: 帮助、影响、支持、指导、压力、条件、情况. Don't confuse it with 在…上 ("in terms of", 在工作上) or 在…中 ("in the course of", 在学习中).

Examples

在老师的帮助下，他的成绩提高得很快。
Zài lǎoshī de bāngzhù xià, tā de chéngjì tígāo de hěn kuài.
With the teacher's help, his grades improved quickly.
在经济全球化的影响下，很多企业开始走向海外。
Zài jīngjì quánqiúhuà de yǐngxiǎng xià, hěn duō qǐyè kāishǐ zǒuxiàng hǎiwài.

Common mistakes

✗ 在老师的帮助，… → ✓ 在老师的帮助下，… (don't drop 下).

✗ 在工作下 → ✓ 在工作上 (domain); 下 goes with influence/help/conditions.
